Seedance 1.0: history, status and what to use instead
Seedance 1.0 was the first generation of ByteDance Seed's Seedance video model family. It is a previous generation with no public API listing on Kie.ai that we can verify, so Seedancee does not currently offer Seedance 1.0 generation. This page records what it was, how the line evolved, and which current model covers each 1.0 use case.
What was Seedance 1.0?
Seedance 1.0 was ByteDance Seed's first publicly named Seedance video generation model. It established the family's approach: prompt-driven and image-driven short clips with a focus on motion quality and prompt adherence, served through ByteDance's own products and partner platforms rather than as downloadable weights. It predates the features people now associate with Seedance, such as native audio generation, multi-image and video referencing, and 30-second one-take generation, all of which arrived with the 1.5 and 2.x releases.
We deliberately keep the description of 1.0 short. ByteDance's current official pages are dedicated to 2.0 and 2.5, and we do not want to reconstruct a spec sheet for a superseded version from secondary sources and present it as verified. The release timeline guide records what is documented with dates and links, and is updated when ByteDance publishes anything new about earlier versions.

The practical consequence: if you used Seedance 1.0 for short text-to-video or single-image animation, Seedance 1.5 Pro is the closest active model and adds native audio, 1080p and a fixed-lens option. If you want the current best quality, Seedance 2.0 gives up to 4K for 4–15 seconds and Seedance 2.5 gives 30-second reference-driven generation with editing.

The generator is preset to Seedance 1.5 Pro. Switch to 2.0 or 2.5 from the model picker; every option and the credit estimate come from the live model registry. Configuring is free; generating needs a subscription. Seedance 1.5 Pro is on both the Starter and Pro plans, while 2.0 and 2.5 are on Pro.

Mapping Seedance 1.0 use cases to today's models
- Short prompt-only clips: Seedance 2.0 Mini for drafts, Seedance 2.0 for delivery quality.
- Animating a single image: Seedance 1.5 Pro or 2.0 image-to-video with a first frame; add a last frame if you know where the shot should end.
- Locked-camera product shots: Seedance 1.5 Pro with fixed lens.
- Anything with sound: every active model generates native audio; 1.0 did not.
- Consistent characters across shots: Seedance 2.5 with reference images, which 1.0 could not do.

Open source, downloads and access
As far as we can verify, ByteDance has not publicly released weights or code for Seedance 1.0 or any later version. There is nothing to download and run locally, and files claiming to be Seedance weights should be treated with suspicion. Access is through ByteDance's own products and hosted APIs; on Seedancee that means the active models above, paid per generation with credits from a Starter or Pro subscription. There are no free trial credits.

FAQ
Can I use Seedance 1.0 on Seedancee?
No. We have no verified provider endpoint for Seedance 1.0, so we do not offer it. Seedance 1.5 Pro, 2.0 (with Fast and Mini variants) and 2.5 are available.
Is Seedance 1.0 free?
We are not aware of any legitimate free public access to Seedance 1.0 today. Sites advertising it usually run a different model. Seedancee's free page explains what you can do at no cost with the current models and why generating needs a subscription.
What replaced Seedance 1.0?
The 1.5 line (Seedance 1.5 Pro is still served by Kie.ai), then Seedance 2.0 on 12 February 2026 and Seedance 2.5 on 31 July 2026.
Did Seedance 1.0 have audio?
Native audio generation is a feature of the later models. Every active model on Seedancee generates audio; we do not describe 1.0 as having done so.
Can I download Seedance 1.0 weights?
Not as far as we can verify. ByteDance has not published weights or code for any Seedance version. Check the official ByteDance Seed pages for updates; we link them below.
Will Seedancee add Seedance 1.0 later?
Only if a provider we trust exposes a verified endpoint for it. Given that newer models cover every 1.0 use case at equal or lower cost, we consider it unlikely.
