Copyright and takedowns
This page explains how copyright works on Seedancee: ownership of what you generate, the rules for reference material, why we do not generate copyrighted characters, and the notice-and-takedown process for rights holders. It also carries the copyright notice for the original examples we publish.
1. Ownership of generated videos
As between you and Seedancee, you own the videos generated for you, subject to our terms and to the rights of third parties. We make no ownership claim over your outputs and we do not use them to train models. Two caveats: whether AI-generated video attracts copyright protection, and to whom, differs by country and is still developing; and an output that reproduces someone else's protected work does not become yours because a model produced it.
2. Reference material you upload
You must have the rights to any image, video or audio you upload as a reference, or permission from the rights holder. That includes photos you did not take, footage from films or shows, commercial music, and recordings of other people's voices. You are responsible for this; we act on complaints from rights holders as described below.
| Material | Allowed? | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Your own photos, footage, recordings | Yes | You are the rights holder |
| Stock or licensed media within its licence | Yes | Check that the licence permits AI processing and derivative works |
| Public-domain or Creative Commons works | Yes, within the licence | Attribution licences still require credit where you publish |
| Screenshots or clips from films, TV, games | No | Copyrighted; also likely to reproduce protected characters |
| Commercial music tracks | No | Copyrighted recordings and compositions |
| Photos of other people | Only with consent | Privacy and personality rights apply in addition to copyright |
| Brand logos and packaging | Only your own or with permission | Trademark law applies |
3. Copyrighted characters and works
Seedancee does not support generating copyrighted characters, recognisable protected designs, or scene-for-scene reproductions of existing films and shows, and prompts that request them violate the content policy. This applies regardless of style: an animated rendering of a protected character is still that character. Many searches ask for Seedance examples featuring famous studios' characters; we discuss such clips editorially on our examples page and teach the techniques behind them, but we do not host them or provide prompts for them. Original characters and original settings in any visual style are welcome.
4. Reporting infringement (notice)
If you are a rights holder or an authorised agent and believe content on Seedancee infringes your copyright, send a notice to copyright@seedancee.com containing:
- Identification of the copyrighted work you claim is infringed (or a representative list).
- The URL(s) of the content on Seedancee that you claim is infringing, specific enough for us to locate it.
- Your name, address, telephone number and email address.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent or the law.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorised to act on the owner's behalf.
- Your physical or electronic signature.
On receipt of a valid notice we remove or disable access to the content promptly, notify the user who published it, and record the notice. Incomplete notices are answered with a request for the missing elements. Knowingly false notices may make you liable for damages.
5. Counter-notice
If your content was removed and you believe the removal was a mistake or misidentification, you may send a counter-notice to copyright@seedancee.com containing: identification of the removed content and its former URL; your name, address, phone and email; a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the content was removed by mistake or misidentification; consent to the jurisdiction of the courts where you are located (or where we are located if you are outside that jurisdiction) and to accept service from the person who filed the notice; and your signature. We forward the counter-notice to the complainant. If they do not inform us within the statutory period (10–14 business days under the DMCA) that they have filed an action, we may restore the content.
6. Repeat infringers
We terminate the accounts of users who are subject to repeated valid infringement notices. Subscriptions, subscription credits and credit pack credits on terminated accounts are not refunded.
7. Trademarks
Seedance and ByteDance are names of third parties, used on this site only to identify compatible models. Seedancee does not claim any association. Other product names mentioned on comparison pages belong to their owners. Trademark complaints follow the same process as copyright notices.
8. Our own content
The documentation, guides, original prompts and Lab methodology on this site are copyright Seedancee. You may use the prompts freely, including commercially, and quote short excerpts of the guides with attribution and a link. You may not republish pages wholesale. Lab outputs and example videos are published for evaluation and may be embedded with attribution; contact us for other uses.
9. Contact
