Seedance roadmap: announced versus speculated
Searches for 'Seedance 3.0', 'Seedance 2.6' and 'next Seedance release' outnumber any official information about them. This page keeps two lists strictly apart: what ByteDance has actually announced, with sources, and what is circulating without confirmation. It also lists what Seedancee itself plans, which we control and can promise.

That is the complete list of forward-looking facts we can verify as of 2026-09-29. ByteDance has not, as far as we can find, published a public roadmap for the Seedance line.
Not announced (speculation)
- "Seedance 3.0": no official announcement exists as of 2026-09-29. Articles claiming a release date, features or benchmark numbers for Seedance 3.0 are not based on a ByteDance source we can find.
- "Seedance 2.6" or other point releases: no official announcement. Providers sometimes add variants (Fast, Mini) between major versions; those are documented when they appear in the registry.
- Open-weight release: no announcement. Our open-source guide explains the current status.
- Longer clip lengths, higher resolution, new input types: plausible directions given the 2.0 to 2.5 progression, but nothing announced.
When any of these becomes official, it moves to the table above with its date and source, and the news page gets an entry. Until then, treat confident-sounding predictions with scepticism, including ours.
What we can predict from the pattern
We can describe the trajectory without inventing a release. Seedance 2.0 (2026-02-12) introduced multimodal references and 4K; Seedance 2.5 (2026-07-31) roughly five and a half months later doubled clip length, expanded references and added editing. That cadence and direction suggest future versions will continue to push length, control and post-generation iteration. It does not tell us when, and we will not guess.

Is Seedance 3.0 coming?
There is no official announcement of Seedance 3.0 as of 2026-09-29. Anything claiming otherwise is speculation. This page and the news page will be updated with a source if that changes.
When is the next Seedance release?
ByteDance has not published a release schedule. The gap between 2.0 and 2.5 was about five and a half months, but past cadence is not a forecast.
Will Seedance become open source?
