Seedance vs Veo

Veo is Google DeepMind's video generation model and the one most people compare Seedance against when they want a Western-lab alternative. The two are reached through very different channels: Veo through Google's consumer and cloud products, Seedance through ByteDance channels and licensed providers such as the one behind Seedancee. This page compares verified Seedance capabilities with a general description of Veo and explains how we will test them side by side.

What Seedance offers (from the registry)

Seedance is ByteDance Seed's video model family. On Seedancee you can use Seedance 2.5 (launched 2026-07-31) and Seedance 2.0 (launched 2026-02-12) plus the 2.0 Fast, 2.0 Mini and 1.5 Pro variants. The current flagship generates 4–30s clips at 480p, 720p, 1080p, accepts up to 30 images, 10 videos, 10 audio clips, produces native audio with lip sync, and supports editing and extending a finished clip. Seedance 2.0 generates 4–15s clips at up to 4k with up to 9 images, 3 videos, 3 audio clips. Both are on Seedancee's Pro plan; the 2.0 Fast, 2.0 Mini and 1.5 Pro variants are also on Starter, from $4.99 a week, at up to 720p and 10-second clips.

What Veo is

Veo is the family of video generation models developed by Google DeepMind. It is offered inside Google's own products for consumers and creators and through Google's cloud and developer platforms for programmatic use. Veo is generally presented as a high-fidelity model with attention to realistic motion, cinematic framing and, in newer versions, audio generated alongside the video.

Access to Veo is tied to Google accounts, subscriptions and cloud billing rather than to third-party resellers, which shapes who uses it: consumers inside Google apps, and developers and enterprises through Google's cloud. Veo, like Seedance, is a closed model with no public weights.

Google updates Veo on its own cadence and versions differ materially in length, resolution and audio support. We therefore do not list Veo specifications here; the current numbers belong on Google's documentation, and any comparison we publish will state which Veo version was tested and when.

Where the approaches differ

The table contrasts how each product is positioned and accessed. It deliberately avoids numbers for the competitor; those belong in dated test results, not in a static table.

How Seedance Lab will compare them

Our benchmark programme runs fixed prompts at fixed settings and publishes every output with its generation date. For a fair comparison with Veo, we run the same canonical prompt and, where the product allows, the same duration, aspect ratio and audio setting, then score both with the same rubric. Results are added to this page as they are produced; each result carries its date so you can see whether it predates a model update. The tests most relevant to this comparison are:

  • Same prompt across versions: the baseline comparison at identical duration and aspect ratio.
  • Prompt adherence: ten checkable details per clip make adherence comparable across labs.
  • Camera-motion vocabulary: both models are marketed on cinematic camera control; the test scores six named moves.
  • Native audio and lip sync: both generate audio; the rubric scores line accuracy, sync and ambience identically.

Until those runs exist, this page makes no claim about which model produces better video. Anyone who tells you otherwise without dated, reproducible outputs is guessing.

Decision framework

Choose Veo when

  • Your organisation is already on Google's cloud and wants billing, compliance and support under one vendor.
  • You want video generation inside Google's consumer apps without setting up a separate workspace.
  • Your own dated tests show Veo handling your specific subject matter better.

Choose Seedance on Seedancee when

  • You need 30-second single takes with edit and extend on the same model.
  • You work reference-first: Seedance 2.5 accepts up to 30 images, 10 videos and 10 audio clips per job on Seedancee, including reference audio for voice or rhythm.
  • You want a provider-agnostic workspace with a credit estimate before each job, projects, a reusable asset library and an API, without a cloud contract.
  • You need Seedance 2.0's 4K output for a short shot.
  • You value published, reproducible tests over vendor demos when choosing a model.

Many teams use more than one model. A reasonable workflow is to draft where iteration is cheapest, then produce the final clip on whichever model handles the specific requirement (length, references, resolution, audio) best. Seedancee's credit estimate before each job makes the cost side of that decision visible.

How to run your own comparison

  1. 01

    Pick one prompt

Use a Lab canonical prompt or write one with the six-part framework from our prompt guide. Do not tune it per model.

  2. 02

    Match settings

Same duration, aspect ratio and audio setting on both products as far as each allows. Note any setting you could not match.

  3. 03

    Generate three times each

One clip tells you about luck; three tell you about the model.

  4. 04

    Score with a rubric

Adherence, camera, stability, look. Write the scores down before you look at the other product's results.

  5. 05

    Record dates and versions

Both products update. A comparison without dates expires silently.

Perguntas frequentes

Is Seedance better than Veo?

Not something we can claim without dated, same-prompt outputs, which Seedance Lab will publish. This page sticks to verified Seedance capabilities and a general description of Veo.

Who makes Veo?

Veo is developed by Google DeepMind and offered through Google's consumer products and cloud/developer platforms. Seedance is developed by ByteDance Seed.

Can I use Veo on Seedancee?

No. Seedancee runs Seedance models through Kie.ai. If we add other models, they will appear in the model registry and on the status page.

Do both models generate audio?

Seedance 1.5 Pro, 2.0 and 2.5 generate native audio with lip sync. Google describes audio generation as a feature of newer Veo versions; check Google's documentation for the version you plan to use.

Which has longer clips?

Seedance 2.5 generates up to 30 seconds in one job on Seedancee and can extend. For Veo's current maximum, consult Google's documentation; we do not restate it here because it changes by version.

Which is cheaper?

Veo pricing depends on the Google product or cloud tier. Seedancee sells Starter and Pro subscriptions that add credits each period, and shows a credit estimate before every job. Compare a concrete job on both rather than relying on summaries.
