Seedance 2.0 Mini video generator

Seedance 2.0 Mini is the low-cost, quick-turnaround variant of Seedance 2.0 exposed by Kie.ai. It keeps the 2.0 generation's multimodal references and native audio but caps output at 720p, which makes it the right model for drafts, vertical social clips and iterating on a prompt before spending credits on higher resolutions (up to 4K on Seedance 2.0).

What is Seedance 2.0 Mini?

Seedance 2.0 Mini (Kie model id bytedance/seedance-2-mini) is a smaller serving of the Seedance 2.0 generation launched by ByteDance on 12 February 2026. Kie.ai lists it alongside Seedance 2.0 and Seedance 2.0 Fast as a cheaper and faster option with 480p and 720p output. It accepts a prompt, first and last frames, up to 9 reference images, 3 reference videos and 3 reference audio files, with native audio generation.

On Seedancee, Mini has the lowest credits-per-second rate and the lowest minimum charge of any active model, so it is the default suggestion for social hooks and UGC-style templates and for the first pass of any idea. Seedancee is an independent platform; the model itself is ByteDance's, served by Kie.ai, and every finished video is copied to our storage because provider links expire after 14 days.

Configuring a Mini generation and seeing its cost is free; generating needs a subscription. Mini is included in both plans (Starter and Pro): Starter, from $4.99 a week, runs it at up to 720p and 10-second clips without reference videos, and Pro unlocks its full 15 seconds and reference videos.

Capabilities: Mini vs 2.0 vs 2.0 Fast

The three 2.0 variants differ mainly in resolution ceiling, speed and price. The table is rendered from the model registry we verify against Kie's documentation; the verification date is in the last row.

When to use Mini

  • Vertical social clips where 720p is the delivery resolution anyway.
  • Prompt iteration: run three or four Mini variations, then re-run the winner on 2.0 at up to 4K, or on 2.5 for a longer cut.
  • Storyboards and animatics for client approval before the expensive pass.
  • Volume work such as A/B ad variants where cost per clip matters more than fine detail.

Mini is the wrong choice when the deliverable needs more than 720p, when fine texture matters (jewelry, fabric macro, type on packaging), or when you need a single continuous shot longer than 15 seconds; use Seedance 2.0 or 2.5 for those.

Workflows and audio

Text-to-video, image-to-video (first frame, optional last frame) and reference-to-video are all available. Native audio works the same way as on full 2.0: describe the sound in its own sentence at the end of the prompt. Edit and extend are not exposed for Mini on Kie. Mini does not return the last frame of a generation, so chaining shots by last frame requires 2.0 or 2.5.

Seedance 2.0 Mini vs Seedance 2.5

Seedance 2.5 (launched 31 July 2026) is a different generation: up to 30 seconds, 1080p, 30 reference images and editing. Mini is a cheaper serving of the 2.0 generation limited to 15 seconds and 720p. They are not competitors; Mini is where you draft and 2.5 is where you finish long or reference-heavy shots. If cost is the only concern and the clip is short, Mini wins; if you need length or control, 2.5 wins.

FAQ

Is Seedance 2.0 Mini free?

No. Mini is the cheapest Seedance model on Seedancee but still costs credits per generation, and generating needs a subscription. There are no free trial credits; the cheapest plan is Starter at $4.99 a week (350 credits per week, excluding tax), which includes Mini.

Which plan includes Seedance 2.0 Mini?

Both. Starter runs Mini at up to 720p and 10 seconds per clip, with text, image and reference images as inputs; Pro adds the full 15 seconds and reference videos. Seedance 2.0 and 2.5 are only on Pro.

What resolution does Seedance 2.0 Mini support?

480p and 720p as exposed by Kie.ai on 29 September 2026. For higher resolutions use Seedance 2.0 (up to 4K) or 2.5 (up to 1080p).

Does Seedance 2.0 Mini have audio?

Yes. Mini generates native audio from the prompt and accepts up to 3 reference audio files.

How is Mini different from Seedance 2.0 Fast?

Both are variants of the 2.0 generation (Mini at 480p/720p, Fast at 480p/720p). Fast is tuned for turnaround and sits between Mini and 2.0 on price; Mini is the lowest-cost option. Pick Fast when you need quicker results at a moderate price and Mini when cost is the priority.

How long can Seedance 2.0 Mini videos be?

4 to 15 seconds, or automatic duration, per generation.

Can I upscale a Mini generation to 4K?

Not inside Seedancee today. The recommended workflow is to iterate on Mini, then re-run the chosen prompt and references on Seedance 2.0 at up to 4K.
