What is Seedance 2.5?
Seedance 2.5 is the newest generation in the Seedance family of video generation models developed by ByteDance Seed. ByteDance announced it on 31 July 2026 under the theme of one-take creation with flexible referencing: a single generation can run up to 30 seconds, follow multiple reference images, clips and audio, and be edited or extended afterwards instead of being regenerated from scratch. ByteDance also describes white-model and green-screen control, which lets you drive a scene from an untextured 3D blockout or a keyed subject, and says a 2.5 clip can be extended twice.
Seedancee is an independent platform, not a ByteDance product. We access Seedance 2.5 through Kie.ai's hosted endpoint (bytedance/seedance-2-5) and copy every finished video to our own storage, because provider output links expire after 14 days. The capability table on this page is rendered from our model registry, which we check against Kie's documentation; the date of the last check is shown above and in the table.
Create with Seedance 2.5
The generator below is preset to Seedance 2.5. You can write a prompt, pick a mode, duration, aspect ratio and resolution, toggle native audio and see a live credit estimate without an account. Generating needs a subscription: Seedance 2.5 is part of the Pro plan, which renders it at up to 1080p and the full 30 seconds. The Starter plan does not include it.
Seedance 2.5 capabilities on Seedancee
As exposed by Kie.ai on 29 September 2026, Seedance 2.5 accepts 480p, 720p and 1080p output, durations from 4 to 30 seconds (or automatic duration), and up to 30 reference images, 10 reference videos and 10 reference audio files per generation. Output is MP4 or MOV with optional native audio. The table compares it with Seedance 2.0 so you can see what changed.
Seedance 2.5 compared with Seedance 2.0
Seedance 2.5Default
Seedance 2.0
Ideal for
Longer reference-driven scenes up to 30s with native audio and editing workflows.
High-quality 4–15s shots with up to 4K output and multimodal references.
Describe the shot in plain language: subject, action, camera, lighting, sound. Seedance 2.5 follows sequential shot descriptions well, so a prompt that lists three beats in order tends to produce three beats in order. For results longer than 15 seconds (up to 30), write the prompt as a short shot list rather than a single dense sentence.
Image to video
Upload a first frame, optionally a last frame, and describe the motion between them. This is the most reliable way to keep a product, a room or a character looking exactly like your source. 2.5 can return the final frame of a generation so you can chain shots.
Reference to video
Attach up to 30 reference images for identity and style, 10 reference clips for motion or camera language, and 10 reference audio files for rhythm and voice, against 9, 3 and 3 on Seedance 2.0. It is the model to choose when consistency across a multi-shot sequence matters more than raw resolution.
Edit and extend
Seedance 2.5 supports editing an existing generation with a new instruction and extending it to continue the action. ByteDance states a clip can be extended twice. On Seedancee, edit and extend appear as modes in the create workspace once you have a finished 2.5 generation to start from; each edit or extension is a new generation and is quoted separately.

How the edit and extend workflows work, what they cost and their current limits.
Seedance 2.5 generates sound with the picture: ambient beds, foley such as footsteps or a lid clicking shut, and simple music cues, all from the prompt. Describe the sound in its own sentence at the end of the prompt, for example "Sound: rain on a tin roof, a distant train." If you need a specific licensed track, attach it as reference audio or add it in your editor afterwards. Audio does not change the credit cost on Seedance 2.5.
Example prompts for Seedance 2.5
30-second one-take, night marketseedance-2.5
One continuous handheld shot through a rainy night market. Start on a steaming bowl of noodles on a counter, tilt up to the cook laughing with a customer, follow a woman in a yellow raincoat as she walks past lantern-lit stalls, end on her turning back toward camera under a red awning as the rain gets heavier. Neon reflections in puddles, 24fps, anamorphic look. Sound: rain, sizzling woks, crowd murmur, a distant scooter.
Using the referenced product images, a matte sage-green insulated bottle on a wet slate surface in soft morning light. Shot one: slow 90-degree orbit at eye level. Shot two: macro on the cap as a hand twists it open, condensation beading. Shot three: pull back to a wide shot with the bottle centered and empty space on the right. Clean, minimal, no text. Sound: quiet room tone, a soft twist and click.
Continue the shot: the woman in the yellow raincoat steps under the awning, shakes water from her sleeve, and looks up at the string of lanterns as they sway. Camera holds, slight push-in. Keep the same lighting and rain intensity. Sound continues: rain, market ambience.
The two models are not simply old and new. Seedance 2.0, launched 12 February 2026, still offers the highest output resolution in the family on Kie (up to 4K) for 4–15 second shots. Seedance 2.5 trades that ceiling for length and control: 30-second generations, far more reference inputs, editing and extension, MOV output and 1080p as its top resolution.

Seedance 2.5 generations cost credits, and generating needs a subscription to the Pro plan. There is no free generation and no free trial credits on Seedancee; the free page explains exactly what is available at no cost, including ByteDance's own channels. Pricing shows the plans, credit packs for subscribers and a live estimator for 2.5 at every duration and resolution. For programmatic access, Seedancee's REST API (/api/v1) runs 2.5 with the same credits, refunds and webhooks as the workspace: it is part of the Pro plan and answers once API access is switched on, and until then it is in early access. The box below shows the current status.

Studio product film. A pair of matte-black over-ear headphones rests on a slab of wet dark slate. The camera begins on a tight macro of the ear cushion stitching, then pulls back on a slow motorized slider to reveal the full silhouette. A single hard key light from the upper left throws a crisp rim highlight along the headband; soft fill from a large overhead diffuser. Fine mist drifts through the beam. In the final second, a bead of water slides off the cup and lands with a soft, clean drip sound. Sound design: low room tone, subtle hum of the light, the single drip. No text, no logo.
Fashion film, 35mm anamorphic look, rich saturated color. A model in a floor-length emerald-green silk coat stands in a sunlit terracotta courtyard, late-afternoon golden light raking across ochre walls and a cobalt-blue door. A wind machine off-screen lifts the coat in slow waves. The camera orbits a quarter turn at hip height, shallow depth of field, soft warm lens flares. Palette: emerald, gold, terracotta, cobalt. Motion is unhurried; fabric moves in slow motion while the model holds a steady gaze into the lens. Sound: fabric rustle, distant wind, no music.
Cinematic scene. Interior of an overnight train at 2 a.m. A woman in a wool coat rests her forehead against the window; rain streaks the glass and the passing sodium lamps paint moving orange bars across her face. The camera is locked off on the seat opposite, slight handheld drift. Rich color: amber lamp glow against cool teal-blue night outside the window, deep shadows, subtle film grain, warm practical light from a reading lamp above. Halfway through she exhales and closes her eyes. Sound: steady rail rhythm, rain against glass, the lamp buzzing faintly.
Character close-up. An elderly lighthouse keeper with a white beard, weathered ruddy skin and a faded red wool sweater sits in a stone room, a kerosene lamp throwing warm amber light on the table while deep blue dusk fills the small window behind him. Medium close-up, 50mm, camera slowly pushing in. He looks just off lens, half-smiles, and says in a low gravelly voice: "They said the light would never fail. I never asked who they were." Lip movement matches the line. Lamp flicker, wind pressing on the shutters, a slow foghorn far away.
Vertical social ad, bright and punchy. A tall glass of ice sits on a sunlit white marble counter beside a bowl of bright oranges and a sprig of fresh mint, a coral-pink wall behind. Cold brew coffee pours in from above in slow motion, dark ribbons swirling through the ice, then a splash of oat milk clouds the glass from the bottom up. Quick whip-pan to a top-down shot as the milk blooms. High-key daylight, crisp highlights, very shallow focus. Energetic pacing with two fast cuts. Sound: ice cracking, liquid pour, one satisfying clink.
Abstract music visual, vivid color. Drops of magenta, cyan and gold ink fall into clear water inside a glass tank against a deep black backdrop, each color blooming and mixing into violet and teal clouds. Each drop lands on a slow 70 bpm pulse, tendrils unfolding in macro detail. The camera slowly rotates around the tank. Add a faint iridescent shimmer at the edges of the ink. High contrast, saturated, no text. Sound: a deep sub-bass pulse on each drop with soft reverb tails.
Up to 30 seconds per generation on Kie.ai as verified on 29 September 2026, with a minimum of 4 seconds or automatic duration. ByteDance additionally states that a 2.5 clip can be extended twice, so longer sequences are built by extending a finished generation.
Does Seedance 2.5 have audio?+
Yes. Seedance 2.5 generates native audio (ambience, foley and simple music cues) from the prompt when audio is enabled, and it accepts up to 10 reference audio files to guide rhythm or voice. Audio does not change the credit cost.
Is Seedance 2.5 free on Seedancee?+
No. Configuring the generator and viewing estimates is free without an account, but generating needs a subscription and Seedance 2.5 is part of the Pro plan (up to 1080p and 30 seconds per clip). There are no free trial credits; plans start at $4.99 a week with Starter, which covers the cheaper Seedance models.
Which plan includes Seedance 2.5?+
